Living in a historic home doesn’t mean sacrificing style and comfort. Cascade House, located in the picturesque suburb of Paddington in Brisbane, is proof of that.
Originally built in the early 1900s as a timber cottage, it has since undergone an extensive renovation and extension project meticulously designed by Jellway and produced by the expert builders at Newman Homes.
The result is a beautiful family home that seamlessly blends the old with the new. Despite its multiple levels and charming original features, Cascade House boasts spacious new living areas that connect seamlessly with the outdoors, providing the perfect space for family activities and entertaining guests. Children can run around and play independently while the rest of the family can enjoy mealtimes and games together. This home is both timeless and modern, located in a highly sought-after spot in the heart of Brisbane.
Renovations often involve uncertainty, especially with post-war homes, as blending the old and the new can be challenging.
Overcoming technical challenges in sloping inner city blocks requires smart planning and creativity to find a balance between form and function.
Paddington’s Cascade House
The need for extra space to for a growing modern family resulted in the renovation of Paddington’s Cascade House.
The goal was to preserve the classic charm of the post-war home while also creating a space that caters to modern lifestyles while working within the clients budget.
Jellway’s design came to fruition through John’s vision of working harmoniously with the land. The strategic use of raw materials adds a chic and contemporary touch to this home.
